Wal-Mart, the global supermarket giant which is parent to ASDA in the UK, is to create half a million new jobs over the next five years.
Mike Duke, chief executive, told the retailer’s annual meeting that the company will add the 500,000 positions as it seeks to continue to grow globally and maintain its leading position in the US. On the international front, which accounts for one total of group sales, he said Wal-Mart needs “to continue to set an impressive pace of growth and have a constant emphasis on returns.” Mr Duke also said that the company needs to continue to widen the price differential between its offerings and that of competitors. |
